Cleaning and Cooking

We almost bought Collin a "play" vacuum for Christmas. For whatever reason we did not follow through with that idea. I however, got myself a stick vacuum that I scored at the Black Friday sales last year for $8.97. Come to find out my stick vacuum makes a great "play" vacuum for the kids and the bonus is they really are cleaning! Collin stood and vacuumed in that same spot pretty much the whole time, but it's really clean now underneath our entertainment center.

Mylee can now make toast. She makes it quite often. Preferably with real butter and cinnamon/sugar sprinkled on top. Kind of crazy how my kids are growing up and learning all sorts of skills. I think dishes might be next on the list...;)

The lastest at our house

Mylee has been doing some dressing up lately. This week she dressed up like the guys (dressed up as girls) on the movie, Some Like it Hot. She cracks me up that girl. She loves that movie and we all love it too.

Collin got in on some dressing up too. Sure he's got a pink, glitter purse, but at least he's got his masculine cowboy hat on too.

I am amazed at how much Mylee and Collin are playing with each other more and more. It makes our house a lot louder, but I love seeing them interact with each other.

Mylee still LOVES to draw. These are her latest drawings. I didn't realize what they were exactly until one day she was turning them over saying " Today I am a happy girl" ( on the other side is a sad face Mylee). " And today Collin is a sad boy because he didn't sleep very good last night." The more I think about it, it's kind of nice she is giving us the heads up of what kind of mood she is from day to day.
Mylee loves preschool. Her favorite part is doing art. That is no surprise.

She also loves playing with friends and is always asking who she can call to come play.

She can usually be found drawing or watching movies. She always surprises me the movies that she likes. Her current favorite movie this week is Rigoletto. I have a feeling next week it's going to be Some Like It Hot. I usually let her watch a movie while Collin sleeps.

Collin sure looks like a happy boy in this picture. But it's true he has not been the best sleeper lately. He especially is having a hard time going to bed/falling asleep. We've had some late nights with him.
He is still napping once a day usually late afternoon for about a couple hours. I love nap time.

He LOVES SNACKS. Seriously this kid snacks all day long, literally. Fruit Snacks are probably his favorite and would eat them all day long if I let him. Other snacks he likes are yogurt, string cheese, apples, oranges, crackers, goldfish and dried cranberries. He' s not big on vegetables.

He likes playing with his cars, animals and occasionally likes to draw. He LOVES playing outside. We can't wait for summer to come at our house.

For some reason Collin has all of the sudden become very picky about what he wears. I expected this from my girl, but my boy? Really? He will not wear any shirts with a collar and/or that buttons up. ( Sunday morning is really fun at our house, it's like a wrestling match) He also will not wear two shirts. For example he will not wear a long sleeved shirt underneath his short sleeve shirts. And there are just a few shirts and pants that he will absolutely not wear for what reason I do not know. Silly boy! Good thing he is cute.

Tender Moments

I didn't realize how special Valentine's Day was this year until today. You see for Valentine's I gave my kids balloons. Mylee decided to take her balloon with her to her friends house and unfortunately ( or now I think fortunately), her balloon got away and floated into the sky. I was amazed at how Mylee was not upset by this. In fact she had a really positive attitude about it. She said " It's okay because the balloon is going to heaven" then she later commented "I think Grandma Helen likes balloons". This made me smile.
But it wasn't until today that I realized that February 14, 2009 was the day of my Grandma Helen's funeral and that day we all released balloons up into the sky, up to heaven.
( See the photo above)

This is the picture of Mylee with her balloon for Grandma Helen, three years ago the day of her funeral.

Kind of a tender moment for me now.

the Power of Primary Songs

One of Mylee's Primary leaders told me that Mylee had said something really cute in Primary on Sunday. They were singing a song and after the song she said " that song makes my eyes water"
So glad to know that she is feeling the Spirit in Primary, it makes my eyes water just thinking about it.
